When was the last time that a vision of yours was realized?
Those of you who have heard me speak, know that there’s a special someone I refer to as ‘my future husband.’
I then smile and whisper “but he doesn’t know it yet!” and then laugh. :0)
There are some that discount the power of intention-setting, visioning, and the like.
However I see my intentions and visions – for myself and my business – coming to life everyday.
Like when I recently met ‘my future husband’, Simon Sinek.
I’ve held the clear vision that I’d not only hear him speak live one day – but also that I’d meet him. I’ve been holding this knowing for at least two years now. He rarely makes general public appearances because he’s in such high demand to speak at companies and conferences.
You see, the thing about intentions and visions is that they don’t always show themselves in the timing that we’d like. You feel me? 😉
So, I’m going about my life – continuing to cite Simon’s work in my presentations and with my clients, continuing with the knowing that I will get the opportunities to hear him and meet him – when, one day, ‘out of the blue’, a dear friend of mine forwards me an email.
He wrote a note “Thought you might be interested (in this event) because your boyfriend , Simon Sinek will be there. :)”
This is the power of a vision/intention my friends: when you make it known, others carry the vision for you into their world…… and connections are made!
Not only was the event the very next week – it was also a promotional offer for FREE admission!! ($799 value!!)
Not only was it a two-day event, but the ONE day I WAS available was the day Simon was to speak!!
It took me exactly 6 minutes to complete the registration process!
But wait, the story doesn’t stop there…….
I show up at the event and, after Simon spoke, they announced he would be signing books!
Soooooooooooooooo, I also got to meet him!!
Oh, my gosh – his DNA is on the book he signed!!!!
One last REALLY interesting thing: on the train into NYC, I was reviewing the dog-eared pages of “Start wtih Why” and shared this one quote on social media:
“When you compete against everyone else no one wants to help you.
When you compete against yourself, everyone wants to help you.
– Simon Sinek”
In a strange sequence of events, Simon came out on stage after Seth Godin and said he was inspired by something Seth said – and that he was inclined to speak on a different topic than he had planned.
I joined the crowd in cajoling him to do so.
Guess what? He did.
Guess what the topic was?
Yep. On the topic of the ONE quote that I posted!
What I wish for you is to continue holding your own vision for yourself, your work, your relationships, and your community – AND voice them to whomever will listen.
“You don’t have to shout to Stand Out”
You don’t have to shout for others to hold your vision for you and with you.
What IS your vision? What IS your intention?
Take the opportunity during this weekend of FREEDOM and outline what you see for yourself.
Use a vision board, sticky notes, a notebook – or even just find a buddy to speak it out loud to.
All ways work.
Who knows how it will show up? (I sure didn’t!)
Release the how and hold the vision.
Enjoy your Independence Day weekend!
